Some state DMVs, like Texas and Nevada, often times put additional information on the NLETS registration returns that can cause invalid "Stolen" hits when we query them through CADS or NCIC. An example was with a Nevada tag that was not entered NCIC as stolen, however, the NLETS registration return includes additional information about a temporary vehicle permit issued last year because the vehicle was reported stolen at that time. Although we didn't receive NCIC Hit alert tone, it still shows stolen on our screen because it found the word "stolen" on the NLETS return, not the NCIC return where valid stolen vehicle hits should be from.
My request is to add the ability configure the red stolen flag to only display if it comes from the NCIC return and exclude it from trying to flag anything on the NLETS return. This would help eliminate some confusion.
